I Struggle With Mental Health!

Spread the love

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I want to speak from my heart.

I’ve struggled with my mental health for most of my life — and even as I get older, the struggle continues. From PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Social Anxiety, and a Personality Disorder, life hasn’t been easy.

When I was younger, people called it “being crazy” and didn’t want to acknowledge what I was going through. Even today, it’s still hard for me to do simple things — going to the store alone, answering the phone, or speaking out loud.

And yet… I’ve written over 83 books, taught my daughter and husband how to run a successful online sewing business, and I create and design patterns that are now on Spoonflower. I’ve been blessed by God with the gift of creativity — something that’s helped me survive.

I advocate for many causes — including chronic illness, domestic abuse awareness, and mental health — because I’ve lived through it. I’ve been in dark places, including struggling with self-harm, but God always brought me through. I know He has a plan for me.

I’m not ashamed to say: I still struggle. Many of us do.

So please… check on your friends. Don’t judge people. You never know what someone is carrying inside.

Share this with someone who needs to know they’re not alone.

Hilda D. Williams still struggles daily with mental health — and that’s why we need awareness. Because many, many people walk this journey silently.
